I'm Jared Travis, a data analyst in Dallas, Texas.

With over two years of experience as a Data Analyst at Dallas Theological Seminary, I have honed my expertise in creating diverse reports crucial for accreditation, financial aid, facilities scheduling, and remuneration. My role extends beyond analysis; I've spearheaded projects integrating our student information system with various other systems and services, as well as leading teams in multiple projects. My technical proficiency spans SQL, SSMS, SSRS, Power BI, and Excel, complemented by my skills in Python for data cleaning, processing, and API integration when needed.

Before delving into data analysis, I was a professional musician for a decade. This period wasn't just about music for me; it was a time where I developed a strong work ethic and a drive to excel in one of the world's most competitive industries. My musical career was marked by touring with Grammy winners and platinum album artists, composing music featured in TV shows, and being featured on Spotify's front page alongside some of the biggest artists in the world; however, the reality of being away from home for extended periods each year came with plenty of challenges, and I decided to switch careers when I married my wife, Brenda.

My journey into data began with a self-driven curiosity, leading me to explore Python and SQL in my own time. This blend of personal interest and practical skill seemed like a great foundation for a career in data analytics. I sought out resources, from relevant books to interactive online platforms, to enhance my data handling capabilities. This self-learning paid off when I started my first role as a data analyst, allowing me to quickly adapt and excel in a professional environment.

At my core, I am a dedicated, lifelong learner with a penchant for critical thinking and problem-solving. Tackling challenging projects is extremely rewarding to me. Beyond my technical skills, I believe in fostering a positive work environment and pride myself on my ability to connect meaningfully with colleagues, attributing to a collaborative and dynamic team atmosphere.

In essence, my shift from music to data analytics encapsulates my adaptability, pursuit of excellence, and commitment to continuous learning and growth, both professionally and personally. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me!
